    Original rim size Mk1 GT?

I'm stumped; what was the original wheel rim width on the Mark 1 GT? I know the Lotus was 5.5J, but there's no mention of rim width in the Ford workshop manual for the standard cars, just the tyre sizes.

Thanks, 4J on the Mk1 GT then, and I guess the Corsair 1500 GT is the same. Originally it had 560 13 tyres. I've got elderly 155/80 13 radials on at the moment, and the speedo's reading about 6% high, so I'm considering 165/80 13 radials as replacements because they're about 3% bigger around the circumference. 165/80 13 would just about be OK on 4J 13 rims, right? Or would repro 155 R 13 tyres have a bigger circumference than the 155/80 13's?

Not sure of the data but the The MK1 Ford Cortina DATA BOOK Tommy Sandham 2005 states:
Wheels, Hubs, Drums, Front Wheel Disc
Note: Many types of different wheels can be fitted. From 4-1/2J as fitted to the G.T. to 5-1/2J on the Lotus, there are many other wheels available.

I have always trusted this data book but in this case he may well be incorrect.
Stick with 4J unless someone can prove otherwise.

What offset were the GT and/or Lotus wheels. I'm looking at getting my originals widened but I'm not sure what specs to ask for....?

    I think the specs are:

    PCD (pitch circle diameter)
    108 mm dia x 4 (4.25 in)
    63.3 centre bore
    35 - 38 offset

    Cheers
