    Thanks for your help, it's defiantly a 0 and not a 9 and it does have the approval at the bottom.
    i was lost as all I could find for the 440L was as an automatic. Have you heard of the paint code Q for a mk2?

    On Jewels old site MK2s had one of the following numbers 12135 or 12035 . MK2

    A little off topic, but when did they stop producing the Mk2? All I have heard until now is that the last car left the line in july 1970... must be for europe then sine you have cars almost a year latter.

    My Mk2 (Australian Built) was constructed May 71, compliance'd June 71. I've also seen TC's complianced June 71 so in Australia I'm saying June 71 was the change over. ....a year behind the rest of the world seems surprisingly quick for Australia

    Tomo, found some MK2 info while i was looking for something else , you are right that model number does not appear on any papers i have nor does the letter " A " also at the Small Ford Day i noticed that some MK2 had concave locking panels and some convex . if any one is going to the Albury do, perhaps they should get as many id numbers( with owners permission) and try to solve some of the anomalys.

    Rob in mid 71 production of the Escort had started along with the last of the MK2 at Homebush.
