Converting from full length (one piece) front bumper to quarter (two piece) bumpers

I want to install (two piece) quarter bumpers on my '66 Mk1 GT which currently has a full length (one piece) front bumper.

I found various sources for quarter bumpers, but have been unable to locate corresponding (Lotus) mounting brackets.

Is anyone reproducing the quarter bumper brackets?

Or alternatively, is anyone manufacturing quarter bumpers adapted to fit on the full length bumper brackets?

I have seen these for sale on ebay and recently somone selling them on trademe here in NewZealand. I made my own and was pleased with the results but would never do it again, very hard to get the curves and bends to match the shape of the car and still mount to the bumpers and have them sitting square and correct

I e-mailed Terry at Lotus Cortina Spares Centre (www.lotuscortinaspares.com) and he responded that they are no longer making these.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Dale Stevenson at Cortina Spares Unlimited.

It looks like these might be available from GS Escorts:

Bit of a difference in pricing. I wonder what the quality is like?
I'm like Dmac, i made my own. Very fiddly and not 100% happy but they'll do for now.

Just a thought here, but don't Escort rear van bumpers & genuine Lotus Cortina front bumpers have different mounting holes & side lengths? So are the new bumpers available in the 2 shapes/sizes? I mention this as this could affect the mounting brackets you need.

My understanding is that repro stainless quarter bumpers are available to fit the original Lotus Cortina mounting brackets/irons.

Given the preference for quarter-bumpers and the additional cost of buying new brackets to fit them, I suggested to one of the repro stainless bumper vendors that they could probably drive business by offering quarter-bumpers drilled for the one-piece bumper brackets, but they weren't interested.

I heard back fromDale Stevenson at Cortina Spares Unlimited. Without mentioning any names, he said that some of the bumper brackets being offered have a really poor fit and warned against buying brackets that are curved between the bends, with the bracket that comes through the front valance the one that is most problematic. He indicated the source of the bad design was a UK magazine article from a year or so ago.

Dale sells quarter bumper brackets but is currently out of stock. I'm not in a huge hurry and would prefer to get something that fits properly out of the box.

The club ones fit. I have them on my Mk1.
