Question Rear seat belt anchor points.

My car (64 four door bench) only has belts in the driver and passenger seat, does anybody have 5 mins to take some happy snaps of where the anchors for the rear seat belts go? Or did Ford put mounts in already?

I would doubt their are anchor mounts in the rear Woody. I didn't even have anchors in the bottom of the 'B' pillar for the front belts (65 4 door bench). You can weld some plates to the rear parcel shelf and into the floor for the lower mounts, but obviously they will need to be engineered blah blah blah...

Where to put seat belt holes

I took some snaps of where I'm thinking of putting the mounts for the rear seat belts.

There are nice flats beside the tunnel to mount behind.
The wheel arch is very thin stuff, but the raised floor under the seat is strengthened to take the leaf springs.

The corner of the parcel shelf looks best for the sash.

Anyone else have lap/sash in the rear?

Jewels: the only mounts I found were for the front driver + passenger, but I don't know if they are factory or later fitment - I can't find anything in the rear, or for the front middle passenger.

    cheers,
    Woody

Woody , anchor them where they look correct, and then just make sure you some very large washers on the "outside" so they can't pull thru the body all should be cool, I would try and stay away from engineers or U will finish up spending your inheritance (if U have any) to keep him happy

    Thank pmolly,

the mounting kit (available separately from JCWhitney) came with 2.5 inch x 1.5mm washers (unfortunately only 2 per belt).

I'll use them for the lap, and something at least as big for the parcel shelf.

Why would I need an engineer if the seatbelts have been there since we bought the car 15 years ago

    cheers,
    Woody

Woody U R right U don't need to go near an engineer

Hubbo75 had holes near enough to where I wanted:

So I've done 4 holes in the back for two rear lap/sashes.

I was thinking of the top ones for the rear, has anyone got lap sashes in the rear + a camera?

I could repurpose one of the vinyl peg holes, or make a new one in the corner...

There are holes in the parcel shelf panel the right size and position for child safety anchors - what are they for? (too central for seat belts)

Woody, forget child restraints, when the car was built all we had back then was somebodies arms

They may have been put in later.

Up here in Nanny South Wales there are new laws about child restraints - kids need a full ADR 5 point child harness until 4th birthday and booster until 8th. The cortina is our 2nd car so in they go.
The "child restraint" holes are through the metal of the parcel shelf, but not through the vinyl - they've never been used.

Rather than start a new thread I will dig this up.
I need to install seat belts into the rear of my 2dr. .

My intention was to mount inertia belts onto the rear parcel shelf using 70mm x 50mm x 3mm plates.
I also need to install child mounts as well for kids seats.

Anyone have any tips, photos of how they have done it?
