Doug Learned has come up with this head for hte Sports 2000 racing folk. it looks like a well thought out piece. 3495 U.S.D., it ought to be nice

Gary,

That alloy head, even though it has some innovative design updates, from a pinto 2.0 perspective, it still has the one inherent trait, that the inlet ports don't flow the air volume they should.

They have designed it to replace the iron head, as it is scarce over there in unmodified form, for their race series, without a great power increase, over an iron head , I am led to believe.

I am told, that the YB head is still the best head, for the job.

I believe you are right about the flow on this alloy head, it is meant to be a replacement for the iron head that the Sports 2000 series was created around. I think there was a deliberate attempt to make it on pare with the iron head so it would have a market and not be banned. More info at the link below. There are photos there but I don't think you see them unless you become a member of apexspeed.com/forums

I also found a bit more on google looking for the post above (I thought was bookmarked, but didn't), some photos here too. I haven't read the whole thread so I am just passing on what I saw. Roger, I guess you have already seen this as your name is there too.

I think there may be a fair amount of potential lurking if one knows where to look.

Some folks in the U.S. used to drop the Cosworth Vega 4 valve head on the 2.0 pinto block, I understand that there was a bit of machine work but the pinto lower end would rev and not blow up where the Vega block was just not rigid enough to make the kind of power that the head was capable of.

Either this or the YB head would be great with cosworths 2.0 block, it might even be fairly lightweight.

Probably worth a "back up the truck, aways" as this post spans 3 years etc.
