Hi there just got the cortina running after 8 years on gas. Sounds wicked twin exhaust on right throuh the car, now its time 4 diff work. Almost finished modifing a 9" for it. Just fitted a pair of genuine sigma turbo front and rear seats in. Brackets for the front and the back fits from side to side on original clips freaky stuff. If anyone has a rear screen 4 sale please let me know. also after some good strut tops.

Hi Jewels - I was looking at getting a set of these myself. Do you have any experiance of them? I was looking at stage 2 or 3 for my cortina. Would stage 3 be too harsh for fast road use?

I wasn't aware of the different 'stages' until this minute but if it makes any difference, they are a good product but make sure that all the bits are supplied when they arrive. Mine didn't come with the spacers... I think the ones for 'fast road use' would be the red ones (Stage 3). I think its a softer urethane. And also, if you get the stage 3 ones, you will have to grind down one side of the top plate in order to squeeze it between the inner guard and the mounting holes. No biggy. Now I remember, you have to file out the mounting holes a little also. Not too good for a concourse resto but fine for everything else.

Hi Danger - looking at the website (http://www.k-mac.com.au/) the one you mention are the stage 1's , for street use. I was looking that the Alloy ones , stage 3 Full Race with the replaceable centre .

noltec we have used on the 2 door
they are big and cumbersome and modify a bit here a bt there is required
the new range of K-mac i think are very very good
and being that they are going to cater to the needs of what the car was intended is also a great idea
they are certainly a hole new design from the old types they used to have
we are going to use the stage 2 on the current project
and at this stage they are the best option for replacment strut tops around i feel
later on today i will post some piccys of the noltecs fitted to the car etc

Yes, you are right topdog. Why they list them from highest number to lowest is beyond me... I must have been half asleep also I think.
I think the intended purpose of the ones you are looking at is total race car stuff. The ones Jewels is looking at (stage 2) would be the hardest ones you would want on a road driven car I think. Many of our cars (including mine and Jewels) run the stage 1 tops and they are just fine for (very) fast street use and they have stood up very well for the past 3 years of hard dayly abuse in my car.
But the stage 2 ones do look very nice... Are you running a between-tower strut brace?

No , and no plans to.

Okay, that makes it easier.
Just on that then, why are you looking at running adjustable strut tops? More adjustability/better handling?
We only have export shells over here with the extra bracing for the strut towers but a between tower strut brace still makes a hell of a difference in the handling department. EVERYONE over here running Geoffs braces raves on and on about what a difference they make to the car. It is possible that simply adding a strut brace will gain you much more benifit to handling than adding adjustable strut tops. You can't get as much 'play' out of them as it look from my experience.
If you just need to replace your strut tops because your old ones are shot then just ignore me... :)

G'day all, Noltec have stopped making their strut tops, and couldn't supply old stock for my Mk.1 recently; I'll be ordering stg.2 K-mac tops soonish.

Thats the reason :-). Genuine ones are hard to find and about the same price as the new adjustable ones. I've heard bad stories about the repo ones not lasting , and the BMW conversion ones don't look like they have enough metal around the relocated mount holes for my liking. Also I don't know if I'd trust a set of 30-40 year old hillman ones.
