The sump would be a problem too, you would need a 1600s front sump & pickup & mod the dip stick ( you cant use a 1300 ect front sump on a 1600 without mods as the con rods will hit the sides of it !!) If you use the cortina box i think you need a clutch mod too

Then you have carby linkages and all that sort of stuff as well remember. Apparently the engine mounts are a bit too narrow on one side to drop straight in.
So now you have engine mounts, exaust, wiring, throttle linkages, prop shaft, sump, spigot bearing and clutch issues. Not looking so straight forward really huh. For how much advantage over a 1500? About two tenths of stuff all... :)

Best to do is to go for a ser 1 MkII box, that will give you
1. a box that fits straight into the car (no new holes have to be made in the body)
2. A box that will fit the 1600 engines Escort clutch
3. A box that will take the Escort 1600 engines starter
You MUST use a MkII clutch master if you use the MkII clutch slave cyl. Donīt try the MkI, it is to small, it will not release the clutch.

You still need to change the sump and front cover and preferably the rear cover as well since the gasket will fitt slightly better to a Cortina rear cover than to a Escort rear cover. You will also need a oil pick up tube from a Cortina engine. Unfortunately you can NOT use any of this from your MkI engine EXCEPT if it have the casting number 701M 6015 BA on the left side AND that the flywheel is 6 bolted.

For the slightly wider engine block you can cut the bolt hole open upwards in the crossmember and let the engine down as far as possible on the inlet side and use the orginal bolt hole on the exhaust side.

Been there, done it all, several of times...

Weee thanks mate!
Yes, the snow is now gone, and the temp are nice outside with about +4 in the morning creeping up to +15 during the day with some hot tops at around 20 some days. Nice weather, sun and blue sky.
This is a thing we do here, talk about the weather. I guess itīs because we are so very depending of it for all we do outside. It can be nice and sunny at 11 oclock, at 13 oclock it can be raining floods...
