Wonder how many people have been 2 c the car to check it out 2 be genuine b4 bidding? Probably is genuine but spendin that amount of money u wud wanna be sure. Having seen quite a few lotus's in the uk at the MK1 Cortina owners club national rallies I know there is a few Lotus's that are indeed reshelled GT shells. Some owners r open 2 admit it which is good i guess.
Very few things 2 tell a genuine Lotus from a GT shell but is possible.

yes you wonder
but i spose if the are advertising it on ebay as non reshelled and genuine
they are therefore now responsible and answerable to ebay as well as the potential buyer

yes,i agree there are lots of GT shelled lotus cortinas about.the differances as far as i know are that the lotus shell has the battery box in the boot and the lotus badges on the rear wings are two hole location as opposed to the GT which are three hole location.

Lotus Cortinas have a hump like this...
The pre-airflow LC's have the hump as per this picture , but the airflow cars have a slightly different shape one - it is more elongated. The car for sale should have the elongated type.
