hi everyone, have just joined this forum and looking forward to discussions/opinions about mk 1 cortinas,GTs being my favourite.i have had five mk 1 cortina GTs between 1972 and 1979,all airflow bodies and two door.i used to love these cars and still do,that dashboard, remote gearchange and centre consol.i fit quarter bumpers and 51/2 j steel wheels to them all and removed the first silencer box by welding in a straight piece of pipe, sounded brilliant!!!!!would love to get my hands on one to restore if i could only find one at a realistic price.i would love the pre airflow one with its steering coloumn mounted rev counter but believe there are not many of these left.

now that is brilliant and the rarer(?) four door, would really love to have that as a project and am very interested in its progress.i once remember a mate turning down a GT pre airfow as it didnt have the what we called the anti tramp bars on the rear axle and so thought it was a lookalike,i must have been in a minority at the time that knew the pre airflows didnt have them!!!!!!!!
