mk2 carpet

hey all
im planning on putting in some better quality sound deadening material in my mk2 and at the same time thought i might replace the carpet,
its only about 2 years old but ive never been happy with it
i bought it off ebay and it doesnt fit very well the trans tunnel was far to large as if it was meant for an automatic and it never came with any carpet for the back section under the back seat

can anyone recommend a brand or company which is a good fit and good quality
specifically for a manual floor change mk2

What brand is the current carpet?

Tru-fit are okay, but not brilliant as far as the wear characteristics of the carpet go. Come as 2 piece, front and back.

There are 2 types on eBay now. One is about double the price of the other though.

Not aware of anyone that does carpet for under the back seat? Offcuts from your local carpet place?

There is two different trans tunnels for Mk2's with floor shift.... 67 and 68 are not the same as 69 to 71.
As I under stand it (and I am probably wrong) 67, 68 is the same as Mk1..... ?
All autos should be the same tho.

im not 100 percent sure what brand the carpet is right now but i did think it was meant to be trufit

i did see one set from the uk which came with bits for under the back seat but postage would be big

Is the trans tunnel size of the later mk2 s the same as the English import models, does anyone know

I too have had issues with an incorrect carpet fitment in my mk2 4 door. As described above...... it was like it is ment for an auto tunnel. I have manage to get it sit ok.... although its not 100%,

Im now after a carpet for my 2 door and dont want to run into the same problems.

My 2 door is a 67 which has the same floor pan as my 68 4 door.

Can anyone point me to a TRUE fitting carpet supplier.
I have noticed there are a few sellers on ebay now...... but not sure of their fitment.

Even a mk1 carpet that fits perfectly, as they are the same floor pan.

Just an idea,
contact the manufactures in Australia and ask if they understand the difference between the models?
sorry i cant give a more positive reply but I have no experience buying carpet yet!

I am pretty sure I brought the carprt in My MK2 67 2 Door from True Fit in VIC only cheper pile but fitted pretty good it was little long in the back half but i just cut it and overlaid with the front half


I dont remember having any trouble with actual mold and width

I can maybe take a few pics and email them across
