Hi Brains Trust,

Sorry to nag again....

Is it possible to get a new wiring harness made for the escort/cortina?

I cant seem to find anything.

I have one but its pretty average and I dont want to rely on the donor one being much chop.

Cheers

Damo

If you go to: www.autosparks.co.uk (http://www.autosparks.co.uk) you will find what you want. They do a great job, and cover all the models, airflow & pre-airflow. No I'm not connected to this Company, but I have used them on several occasions, all they require are the two bulkhead blocks for a full harness. They will even do 'specials' if you are building a competition car requiring the additional stuff or running an alternator!
Hope this is useful, all the best you 'tina pedalers.........eddie g

Jewels, I don't suppose they could list every individual harness, it would run into 1000's!!!!!!!!! However, if you click on 'Get a quote' at the top of the opening page, bingo, job done!
Cost?, the last one I bought in '06 was for a Lotus Cortina with alternator @ £135.80 + UK post £7.80 + £25.13 VAT = £168.73 Maybe you will not have to pay the VAT, but post will be more!

Cheers for that.

I have sent off for a quote. If it is too much I wont worry as I already have a harness although it is old, it will be enough for the track.

I'll post up what the damage is anyway.

Cheers

Thanks for that A1Topdog.......................Have we met?
Yes I have tried VERY hard to replicate a 1964 'Works' rally car registered 892 DOO. Some minor details we have had to guess at, but many other things are correct parts, which have taken a lot of research and finding!
Passed its MOT today which means I can get it taxed and actually drive it on the public road at last.

just thinking is that a complete harness...?

I assume so but to avoid dissapointment, I sent off an email just in case.

I have yet to go through the harness I got with the car to see if that is much chop yet as that is a while away. If it looks like I have to change at least 15% of the wires Ill just get a new one for reliability.

"Hi Damian
The harness includes everything from the front grill to the rear of the car, the only thing it does not include is loose wires or battery cables.
Many Thanks
Debbie"

Damn...no loose wires. Its not an old car without loose wires sticking out from under the dash...:-)

Crums, that would leave a good $600 in your pocket over getting a (good) auto elec to make one for you... All you gotta do is chop into it a bit for stereo/whatever else and fit it. Done and done. Probably no relays or fusebox or anything though right?

do you know whether it is in period grey tape?
as well as period type bullet connecters as per original

This could be a really cheap way of getting a brand new Mk1 Cortina!

And I quote: "The harness includes everything from the front grill to the rear of the car".

Awesome. I'll take 3 thanks. 63 Lotus... GT500... and a Woody...

Ta.

That will be for an original spec loom. I have spoke to them about a bespoke one , to include a fuse box etc and they will make one to any spec you want. I didn't get a price.
