hey guys

well as has been the case for most of my life the internal struggle between my two loves, cortina's and motorbikes, has been raging again and due to the warmer weather and thought of long winding coastal roads, for now the motorobikes have won again. As such my much loved mk1 is up for grabs. I have tried to place an add in the classifieds section but it wont let me log in?? maybe Jewels could help me out with this one, so for now i will post it in here. Some info:

1966 mk1 440 sedan
gold/brown in colour
has been lowered by 2 inches with stiffer sports springs in the front and brand new shocks all round
whiteline 24mm heavy duty sway bar fitted last month.
all tyres are near new with tonnes of tread left
has a 1.6l mk2 cross flow engine fitted with aftermarket extractors
Eonon setero head unit with 7 inch touch screen, tv tuner, dvd player, gps, radio tuner, 2 Av inputs, USB and Audio jack inputs. 4x65W output (according to the owners manual)
pioneer speakers under front seats
chrome and wood after market steering wheel
Brake pads were done about 7 months ago
engine fitted with a set of brand new cam followers about 5 months ago
new starter motor fitted 4 months ago
suspension fitted with nolathane bushes
brand new exhaust system from headers back including hot dog muffler, sounds quite nice without being too loud.

This car was restored by the previous owner and has one of the straightest bodies you will find, really nice condition. Interior is also is really good condition with all of the chrome bits and gauges is excellent with no pitting or signs of ware. Car is really reliable, i have driven this car about 30-50km's daily since i have owned it and hasn't missed a beat, a fine example of reliable 60's british engineering. Rego is till 27/4/2011 and passed the rego inspection in the ACT rather easily (its a fairly thorough test here, so the cars running gear is all in good nick)

Now a few of the bad things:

some rust in the lower section of the front left quarter panel, and a tiny bit in the front of bonnet and back of boot lid, however besides that rest of the body is rust free. I also have a replacement lower section of the front left quarter panel which i will give to whoever buys the car, provided you are somewhat handy with metal work and have the tools it wouldn't be a hard job to lop the bottom of the panel off and weld in the new section.

some tapping noise from the top end of the engine, i believe this may just be the tappets need adjusting, i have also been told that the kent engine are renowned for this.

Brakes can be a bit squeaky every now and then, not sure why, the pads don't need replacing.

Leaks a tiny bit of oil from the rear of the sump

the parcel tray that sits under the dash is split, you may notice its absence in the photos, i still have it and would just be a case of replacing the split chipboard.

carpet that is in the car is not made for it and has been modified to fit, would be something i would replace if i kept the car.

i also have a front bench seat and front bumper bar for the car that i have tried to sell separately but there wasnt much interest so if whoever buys it wants them they can have them.

This car is a pleasure to drive and is a real head turner, i frequently have people coming up and talking to me about it, real conversation starter. It will be a real joy for the new owner and will not disappoint, will be sad to see it go, any questions or if u want to come have a look just pm me or give me a call on 0422926020

cheers guys, Alan.

forgot to say, asking $7000, thats a rather important bit of info :oops
