Did we get T5 Borg-Warners in our XF Falcons?
Parts exchange is sounding better and better... Wonder what's its worth to ship a well loaded pallet over?
Sounds like the lack of oil coolers combined with some big boost and non-programmable ECU's is the recipe for disaster with the Nissans over there Bertil. It just sounded very strange that everyone was killing motors there, where here, everyone you talk too has at least 300 reliable HP out of a CA or SR.

There are mainly two versions of the T5, in the Cosworths there is a version called the "world class", it has needle bearings on the gears and cone main bearings, no parts are interchangeable between the WC and the non world class T5 box. Ford started to use the WC box in 1985 and GM around 1988. If your Falcons are later than 1985 there SHOULD be WC boxes. They are easily identifyable from the outside by looking at the bearing cup, the bellhousing must be removed. More info here: http://www.5speeds.com/t5/index.html
Also there are many different housings meaning the gearstick is located in diffrent places and inpu and output shaft can also have diffrent splines.
Can you post a pic of a Falcon box please?

Looks like the input shaft goes a bit forward out of the bellhousing, making it possible to fit an adaptor plate and make the shaft flush with the plate just like the Ford boxes flush to the bellhousing.
Dont like position for the starter though...

What is the best gearbox to use with the zetec?
Is a brake upgrade required?
The engine wont be supercharged or turbo.

68 cortina, i think there are adapters for all types of gearbox's the problem is this engine was used in a 'east-west' configurarion
so matter what gearbox you choose an aftermarket bell housing or adapter plate will be required
there is a thread HERE (http://www.cortina-mk1classifieds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253) on how a member has done this conversion
have abit of a read 68 cortina there is a lot involved and many things to take into consideration :)

Hey there, stupid question but will a t5 bolt up to a 2L zetec from a ford mondeo?
Yes it doe´s if you use a Sierra Cosworth bellhousing or modify a Type 9 bellhouing to take the T5.

To make it easy there are 2 kinds of the T5, it is the ordinary T5 and the T5 WC. WC stands for world class and that is the type I am after. All you need to know to identify a box is found here:

Dr Danger

Didn't Bertil suggest in some other thread that the differences were internal Jewels? Larger gears or bearing or shaft thickness or something like that? Can't remember 100%
