There is at least one GT500 here in NZ. A bloke I sort of know has it and it is a nice one.
Wasn't there a guy on the old forum with one? Baden I think. I guess a few forum members have them

not sure why there is a 4 door in there but they are my dads old cars. they are the only 2 500's sold in tassie new. in one of the shots you will see them both together. all the photos are taken during the 80's. the damaged car is the one my mum drove under the back of a truck one night. due to that, they both ended up pretty much being one car. most of the photos are of the car during its long restoration (which was done twice cos dad wasnt happy after the first completed job he did) then he sold it and after a couple of owners it has since been re-bodied (i think twice?) but it is a bloody nice car now.
will try to do some more details of each photo at a later date...

Jewels,
Great shots.
I notice some of the 500's have lotus steels on them. My car came with a set as well (well when I bought a few years back). Guess it was a common upgrade back then.
My car has sat idle since 1978 so I was excited to see these shots - none alas are of my old girl
Cheers,
A

not sure if dads wheels were lotus steels or just widend steelies? (his fastback gt certainly had widend steelies as they were chrome) i do remember there being a fair few wide wheels about the place. the 500 when dad first got it had a real hot lotus twin cam in it. i do have some photos somewhere of the engine sitting in a model a ford chassis as when they stuck the original 500 motor back in the car dad was going to build a model a speedster/hot rod using the twin cam. remember this was the 1980's!

this one i have a that exact print in an old photo album of just gt 500's. dad and his mate were doing a register back in the 80's and were collecting as many photos and names of owners etc at the time. i know where all the photos are but no idea where the register has gone though...

Harry is on record as having built a couple of 4 door GT "variants" for various customers, maybe not true GT500s in the door deprived sense but they still went pretty fast.
