Sorry people should have posted a new thread, get it now. Thats what you get form a Digital Immigrant. Anyway found a Lotus Cortina Head in the garage that I was going to do up about 23 years ago. Does anyone know what it's worth

It looks complete, has cams but does have a broken cam bearing cover. Like I said I bought it at a swap meet a long time ago. Its at my dads place I'll go and get some pics and post them. looking for a good Mk2 GT to get back into it. Almost bought one on the weekend from Sydney, but it was a bitsa, ID plate didn't match chassis and trim etc.

If one bearing cap is damaged it needs line boring of all bearing seats (on that row). That is a quite expensive operation and must be performed by someone that knows what he is doing. It is well worth doing on a good head, but since that work is needed in this case that brings the value of the head down a bit.
Get a meassure of the thickness of the head, meassure from the cam cover gasket surface to the cylinderhead gasket surface.
Also, is it for Webers (4 inlet ports) or for Strombergs (2 inlet ports)?
If it is for Webers it is more desireable. Meassure the port size where the carb sits, should be 40 mm if it is not ported. Ported = less value.

bertil,
id say it would be a weber item as they are the most common here

eddy, how did you go with the pictures?
