leaf springs

How do I decamber single leaf springs ,no one in Ireland will do this and I dont really wont to post to England and back they are of a 2.8 capri ,do I use a big press or do you heat them or wil that make them weak or break. O and is 2" to much .

In the bad old days the boys would just put the gas axe to the spring and let it come down under the weight of the car (not a recommended, or for that matter an accurately calibrated process).

If you slip down to the library you can probably find a copy of Machinery's Handbook, the process for re-setting springs is pretty well described. Then I'd reckon you may find a general engineer with the ability to reset them for you without destroying their springiness.

2" is not a bad starting point but you can get that by just reversing the main leaf in the spring pack.

Capri 2.8 springs are single leaf.

fair call, might be woth bolting up a leaf or two out of an escort spring pack to flatten them out if there's no engineer in the vicinity who can reset the capri spring then.:bowdown
